CAA LICENSED

Drone Roof Surveys in Leeds

Drone roof surveys in Leeds from a CAA licensed, family-run, RICS-regulated practice. Close-up images of roofs, chimneys and gutters without scaffolding, for drone roof inspections across Yorkshire and further afield.

WHAT IT IS

Roof inspection without scaffolding

A drone roof survey uses a CAA licensed drone to photograph the parts of a building that are hard or unsafe to reach: roof coverings, ridges, flashings, chimney stacks, gutters and high-level walls. Instead of putting a surveyor on a ladder or hiring scaffolding, we capture high definition images from the air.

Those images let an independent chartered building surveyor assess the condition of the roof carefully from the desk, including awkward details that are difficult to see from the ground. It is a practical way to understand what is happening up there before deciding what, if anything, needs to be done.

BENEFITS

Why use a drone to inspect a roof?

Safe access to roofs, chimneys and gutters

A drone negates the need for anyone to climb to the upper parts of the building, so roofs, chimneys and gutters are inspected safely and without scaffolding or access platforms.

Chimney inspection by drone

Chimney stacks, pots, flashings and pointing can be examined close up, including details that cannot be judged properly from the ground.

Photographic evidence

You receive clear photographs of the roof's condition, a lasting record that supports repair decisions, insurance discussions and lease documentation.

WHO IT IS FOR

Who a drone roof survey is for

A drone survey gives a clear picture of a roof without disruption to the people using the building.

✓ Homeowners with a leak, slipped slates or storm concerns

✓ Buyers who want the roof checked before they commit

✓ Landlords and managing agents with roofs to maintain

✓ Commercial owners and tenants, including industrial buildings

Roof and chimney images added to a RICS Level 3 Building Survey

Roof leaks and defects assessed from above and inside

Roof condition recorded at the start of a lease, including industrial buildings

A drone does not replace a survey. It adds close-up evidence of the roof to the wider inspection, which makes it a natural companion to a building survey or a defect report. Where there is a roof problem, we combine the drone survey with an internal inspection to understand the cause.

What you receive

WITH OTHER SURVEYS

Where the drone survey forms part of a building survey, defect report or schedule of condition, the images are included in that report.

✓ High definition photographs of the roof, chimneys, gutters and any high-level walls inspected

✓ The surveyor's independent comments on the condition of what the images show

✓ Clear notes on anything that needs attention or further inspection

QUESTIONS

Drone roof survey questions

Do you need scaffolding for a drone roof survey?

No. The drone captures close-up images of the roof, chimneys and gutters from the air, so scaffolding or access platforms are not needed to see these areas.

Does a drone inspection replace a building survey?

No. A drone shows the outside of the roof and high-level areas. A building survey also covers the inside and the rest of the property, so the two work well together.

Can a drone see everything on a roof?

A drone shows the roof surface, chimneys, flashings and gutters. It cannot see beneath the coverings or inside the roof space, so where a roof problem is suspected we combine the drone survey with an internal inspection.

Can I order a drone roof survey on its own?

Yes. A drone roof survey is available as a standalone service, or it can be added to a building survey, defect report or schedule of condition.

Are your drone operators CAA licensed?

Yes. Knight Surveys drone operators are CAA licensed.
